The Medicine Buddha is seated on a broad lotus base. The right hand reaches down in the earth-touching gesture, while the left supports a clearly modelled Bhaiṣajyakalasha medicine vessel. Engraved borders enrich the robe, arm bands and the vessel.
Casting and surface
The figure and base are hollow-cast, hand-finished and mechanically joined in a 19th-century Sino-Tibetan workshop tradition. The bronze carries a layered dark patina with copper oxidation, deposits in recessed areas and worn gilded accents on the robe and lotus pedestal.
Condition and underside
The structure is stable, with natural devotional wear and an intact historic patina. No modern restoration is visible in the photographs. The final image shows the closed underside with fine abrasion and incised markings.
