Antique Thai bronze Buddha head
This substantial bronze Buddha head has a serene expression, spiral hair curls and elongated earlobes beneath a tall flame-shaped ushnisha. The dark surface carries natural green and brown patina variations and visible age-related wear.
Photographed from the front, both sides and the rear, the sculpture shows balanced modelling and a strong Thai silhouette. The unadorned neck opening reflects its construction as a separately displayed sculptural head.
Iconography and Context
Presented without the full body, a Buddha head concentrates attention on the meditative expression, elongated earlobes, hair treatment and ushnisha. Surface and silhouette become especially important to the sculpture’s impact.
Condition and Display
The bronze surface shows the tonal variation, patina and raised-detail wear described in the catalogue note. The 6 photographs document the sculpture from multiple angles, including the reverse and base.
Collector’s Note
A antique thai bronze buddha head with flame ushnisha with balanced display presence, combining its thailand bronze character with clearly readable sculptural detail.
