A small Thai bronze Buddha seated on a detailed lotus base. The right hand extends downward in Bhumisparsha Mudra, the earth-touching gesture associated with the moment of enlightenment, while the left hand rests in the lap.

The compact devotional image retains a dark, naturally aged surface with wear to the face, robe and raised lotus details. The closed underside shows horizontal abrasion from handling and display.

Iconography and Context

Bhumisparsha Mudra is the earth-touching gesture associated with Shakyamuni calling the earth to witness his awakening. The lowered right hand turns the stable seated image into a direct reference to the moment of Enlightenment.

Condition and Display
