A distinctive Burmese Buddha seated in Bhumisparsha Mudra above an unusual elephant-decorated base. The sculpture combines Mandalay and Shan stylistic elements with an old multi-layered surface of lacquer, pigment and gilding.
The elephant support is a particularly uncommon feature and gives the image a strong architectural character. The circa 1890–1910 dating remains an art-historical attribution; microscopic surface observations document the layered finish but are not treated as independent proof of date.
