Catalogue Note
Dimensions: H 57 × W 36 cm
Weight: 8 kg
Material: Carved wood with lacquer, gilt traces and glass inlay
Estimated period: Late 19th to early 20th century
Origin: Burma / Myanmar
Subject: Kneeling Buddhist monk or attendant
Posture: Kneeling
A large kneeling Buddhist monk or attendant shown in a devotional posture. The sculpture retains multiple lacquer layers, gilt traces and traditional glass decoration, with extensive craquelure and wear across the surface.
The layered material history is consistent with an older Burmese temple object, but it does not by itself prove a narrow date. The attribution is therefore kept broad.
Condition
Antique condition with craquelure, lacquer and gilt loss, glass losses, cracks and normal age-related repairs.
