Catalogue Note

Dimensions: H 25.5 cm
Weight: 1.8 kg
Material: Heavy copper alloy / bronze with gilt traces
Estimated period: Mid-Qing, 18th to early 19th century
Origin: China
Subject: Guanyin / Avalokiteshvara
Posture: Seated on a dragon throne
Mark: Apocryphal Shunzhi mark

This seated Guanyin is presented on an elaborate dragon throne and represents Avalokiteshvara in the Chinese Buddhist tradition. The separately fitted tablet, complex base and surviving gilt traces add considerable sculptural interest.

Internal casting supports, aged corrosion and pigment residues are visible. These observations are useful construction evidence, but they are not treated as independent proof of the exact date. The mid-Qing dating remains a stylistic and material attribution.
