A tall Chinese Buddhist figure with joined hands, old painted surface and surviving gilding visible beneath natural wear. The aged craquelure and layered polychromy give the carving considerable historical character.

The reported European history is useful later provenance. The Qing-period date remains an art-historical attribution rather than a documented manufacture date.

Condition

Antique condition with paint loss, craquelure, worn gilding, cracks and age-related surface variation.

Iconography and Context

The composed posture and restrained expression belong to the visual language of Buddhist devotional sculpture. Balance, stillness and clearly readable gestures allow the image to function both as a sacred object and as a focused sculptural presence.

Condition and Display
