A substantial Javanese Shakyamuni seated in Bhumisparsha Mudra on a broad lotus throne and stepped architectural pedestal. The composition evokes the monumental Buddhist architecture of Central Java while remaining a freestanding devotional sculpture.
The surface retains a deep dark patina with visible age-related wear and casting traces inside the base.
