A substantial Nepalese four-armed Avalokiteshvara, cast in bronze and retaining areas of historic gilding. At 55 cm high and 6 kg, the figure has the scale and visual authority associated with temple or important private devotional sculpture from the Kathmandu Valley.

Attribution & Construction

The crown, multiple arms and small seated Buddha in the coiffure identify the figure within the Avalokiteshvara tradition. The surface preserves old gold, green-blue copper corrosion and wear concentrated on exposed areas. An aged wooden closure remains beneath the hollow body, with mineral deposits visible around the junction of wood and metal. These features support substantial age, while the precise historical dating remains an attribution rather than a documented provenance.

Condition

Antique condition with wear to the gilding, stable patination, local oxidation and age-related surface variation. The historic base closure and aged surface have been retained rather than cosmetically restored.
