A compact but unusually heavy image of Bhaisajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha, seated on a lotus base with his traditional medicinal attributes. The dense cast and refined Newar-style modelling give this small sculpture considerable presence.
The closed base and old paper fragment are important physical features, but the text has not been independently translated or dated and is therefore not used as conclusive provenance evidence. The dating remains an art-historical attribution.
Condition
Antique condition with patina, wear and age-related surface variation. The base remains closed according to the current record.
