An elegant standing Tara in a pronounced tribhanga pose, richly adorned with crown, jewellery and a lotus stem rising beside the body. The slender modelling and refined ornament are characteristic of Newar-influenced Himalayan Buddhist metalwork.

The base and a rear opening are closed or sealed according to the current record. This may indicate ritual consecration, but the internal contents have not been verified. The 18th-century date remains an art-historical attribution.

Condition

Antique condition with worn gilding, deep patina, mineral deposits, oxidation and age-related surface wear.
