White Tara is associated in Himalayan Buddhism with compassion and longevity. The proposed dating is retained as a stylistic attribution from the current catalogue record.

Condition

Good antique/older condition with gilt wear, patina and minor losses to painted details.

Iconography and Context

Tara is a central bodhisattva of compassion and protection in Himalayan Buddhism. Her poised posture and graceful gestures combine contemplative calm with the idea of compassionate action.

Condition and Display

Surviving gilding, darker recessed areas and wear on raised details create a layered surface. The 10 photographs document the remaining finish, patina, casting and base from multiple viewpoints.

Collector’s Note

A antique nepalese white tara with compact, display-friendly scale, combining its nepal gilt bronze with polychrome details character with clearly readable sculptural detail.
