A substantial Lanna-style Buddha with compact proportions, a lotus-bud finial and a richly aged gilt surface. The image is seated in meditation and retains red underlayers beneath worn areas of gilding.
Attribution
The sculpture is attributed to Northern Thailand and broadly to the 18th–19th century. The retained casting material, surface wear and patina support traditional manufacture but are not treated as independent proof of an exact date.
Condition
Historic wear to gilding, exposed red ground and darkened bronze in raised and recessed areas. The old surface remains largely intact.
Iconography and Context
The composed posture and restrained expression belong to the visual language of Buddhist devotional sculpture. Balance, stillness and clearly readable gestures allow the image to function both as a sacred object and as a focused sculptural presence.
Condition and Display
Surviving gilding, darker recessed areas and wear on raised details create a layered surface. The 10 photographs document the remaining finish, patina, casting and base from multiple viewpoints.
