Catalogue Note

A small antique Thai bronze Buddha head mounted on a modern black display stand. Dating broadly to the 18th or 19th century, the fragment combines a serene meditative face, tightly modelled hair curls and a flame-shaped ushnisha with a naturally aged green-brown patina.

Thai Buddhist fragment

The head is associated with the late Ayutthaya to early Rattanakosin sculptural tradition. Because it survives as a detached fragment and lacks documented provenance, the attribution is kept deliberately broad rather than assigned to a specific workshop.

Bronze and surface

The bronze shows green-brown patination, oxidation, deposits and surface wear concentrated in recesses. The modern stand allows the fragment to be displayed safely while keeping the historic bronze visually separate from the mount.

Condition

Antique fragment with age-related patina, oxidation, surface wear and losses associated with separation from the original figure. The black stand is modern.
