A large Thai seated Buddha on a double lotus pedestal, cast in bronze and retaining an attractive aged gilded surface. The calm facial expression, balanced proportions and broad lotus base give the sculpture a strong temple-like presence without excessive ornament.
The surviving gilding is naturally worn on exposed areas, while darker patina remains in protected recesses. This contrast is an important part of the object's historical appearance.
Condition
Good antique condition with wear to the gilding, patina and normal age-related surface marks.
Iconography and Context
The composed posture and restrained expression belong to the visual language of Buddhist devotional sculpture. Balance, stillness and clearly readable gestures allow the image to function both as a sacred object and as a focused sculptural presence.
Condition and Display
Surviving gilding, darker recessed areas and wear on raised details create a layered surface. The 16 photographs document the remaining finish, patina, casting and base from multiple viewpoints.
