A pair of antique Thai Thapanom temple figures shown kneeling with their palms joined in a gesture of reverence.
The carved wooden surfaces retain worn red and black lacquer, gilded ornamental panels and small inset decorative elements. Natural surface wear and losses remain visible throughout.
An old Gallerij Bodhi card accompanies the pair and identifies the subject as Thai Thapanom temple figures.
Iconography and Context
Anjali Mudra joins the hands before the chest as a gesture of reverence, greeting and spiritual humility. In a kneeling figure, the gesture creates an especially focused image of devotion.
Condition and Display
The carved hardwood retains visible grain, tool-work and naturally varied colour beneath the surviving lacquer, gilding and inset decoration. The 13 photographs document the carving, profiles, reverse and age-related surface character as part of the condition assessment.
