Weight: 3.5 kg
Material: Gilt bronze
Period: c. 1750–1820
Origin: Tibet / Western Himalayan tradition
Mudra: Bhumisparsha Mudra

This seated Buddha rests on an integral lotus base, the right hand lowered in the earth-touching gesture and the left hand resting in meditation. The compact modelling, flame-shaped ushnisha and broad lotus throne give the sculpture a strong Himalayan devotional presence.

Gilding and surface

Traces of original gilding remain across the figure and base. Worn raised areas, darker recessed zones, fine surface pitting and mineral accretions create a layered patina consistent with long age and ritual handling.

Construction and condition

The Buddha is hollow-cast and hand-finished. The final photograph clearly shows the open underside, internal casting marks and mineral deposits. Natural wear and variations in the gilded surface are visible throughout the full set of ten photographs.
