This mandala is organised around an eight-petalled lotus and incorporates seed syllables in Ranjana/Lantsa script. The geometric structure, sacred lettering and surrounding painted fields place the work firmly within the visual language of Himalayan Buddhist ritual art.

Old markings including references to Canton and Sihui are present on the reverse. They are recorded as historical markings on the object; without independent documentation they should not be treated as proof of a specific confiscation, customs or export route.

Condition

Antique surface with craquelure, pigment wear and age-related toning. Framed behind glass.
