A small Burmese Buddha head in Mandalay style with tight spiral curls, softly modelled features and surviving warm gilding. The open underside reveals the hollow cast construction.

Dark oxidation has developed in the recessed areas while exposed points show natural surface wear, producing a characterful contrast between gold and brown tones.

Condition

Good older condition with worn gilding, patina and minor age-related marks.

Iconography and Context

Presented without the full body, a Buddha head concentrates attention on the meditative expression, elongated earlobes, hair treatment and ushnisha. Surface and silhouette become especially important to the sculpture’s impact.

Condition and Display

Surviving gilding, darker recessed areas and wear on raised details create a layered surface. The 9 photographs document the remaining finish, patina, casting and base from multiple viewpoints.
