Catalogue Note

A Sino-Tibetan bronze figure of Maitreya Bodhisattva, seated on a raised pedestal with the hands joined at the chest in Anjali Mudra. The multi-armed figure is framed by a pierced halo and lotus stems bearing ritual attributes.

Cast by the lost-wax method and finished with hand-incised detail, the sculpture retains a dark, naturally worn bronze surface with areas of green oxidation and surviving fire gilding concentrated on the face. The hollow casting shows an older, darker interior core and lighter material near the opening, consistent with later ritual refreshing or structural reopening. The figure is stable, with natural wear and partial loss of gilding appropriate to its age.
