A large standing Buddha in a Himalayan-inspired idiom, notable for its tall proportions and extensively hand-incised robe. The 83 cm figure combines a protective raised hand with a lowered gesture of generosity and stands on a shaped lotus base.

Surface & Construction

The robe is decorated with repeated medallions and broad geometric and floral borders that were cut into the surface after casting. The figure is hollow cast; remnants of investment material remain visible through the open underside. These construction features are consistent with workshop casting but are not used here to imply an earlier date.

Condition

Good vintage condition with patina, minor wear and the normal irregularities of a hand-finished hollow casting. The object is presented as a 20th-century work inspired by older Himalayan Buddhist sculpture, not as an early Tibetan bronze.
