Catalogue Note
This mid-20th-century Southeast Asian bronze Buddha head is presented as a freestanding sculpture. The composed expression, softly modelled features and naturally aged surface create a calm focal point at a compact 18 cm height.
Form and Expression
Lowered eyes and a restrained smile give the face a meditative character. Tightly arranged hair curls cover the head and continue around the rear, while the elongated earlobes reinforce the traditional Buddhist iconography.
Bronze Surface
The bronze has a dark, varied patina with lighter wear across selected raised areas. This tonal contrast brings definition to the curls, eyelids, nose and lips without disturbing the sculpture’s quiet presentation.
