An exceptionally large Burmese Buddha in Mandalay style, carved from heavy wood and distinguished by inset eyes, a serene face and broad monastic robes. At 120 cm high and approximately 90 kg, the sculpture has the scale of a major temple or architectural interior object.
The sculpture is attributed to the late 19th to early 20th century. An earlier listing for this exact 120 × 99 cm, approximately 90 kg object describes it as an antique Mandalay work and places it around the turn of the 20th century; the dating is therefore presented as an estimate rather than an absolute manufacture date.
Condition
