A monumental interpretation of Guanyin, the East Asian bodhisattva of compassion, carved as an architectural wall sculpture rather than a conventional altar figure. The restrained face emerges from a field of deep, rhythmic tool marks, creating a strong contrast between meditative expression and raw timber.

Carving & Presentation
The sculptor deliberately retained knots, fissures, irregular edges and broad gouge marks as part of the composition. The reverse is also worked and incorporates practical handles. The heavy wooden base is fitted with locking casters, allowing the sculpture to be positioned despite its considerable mass.
Condition
Vintage condition with natural drying cracks, surface wear and movement inherent to a large solid-wood sculpture. No specific artist or workshop is currently identified; the piece is therefore catalogued by subject, material and approximate period rather than by unsupported attribution.
