This Nepalese bronze depicts Tara, the Himalayan Buddhist goddess of compassion and protection, seated in a graceful and composed posture on a lotus base.

The gilded face gives the serene expression a radiant presence. A detailed crown, jewellery and flowing robes reflect modern Nepalese devotional and decorative bronze production. The object is not catalogued as an antique.

Tara is a central bodhisattva of compassion and protection in Himalayan Buddhism. Her poised posture and graceful gestures combine contemplative calm with the idea of compassionate action.
