This old Thai bronze vessel has a wide, rounded bowl, stable base and naga-decorated lid. It belongs to the Buddhist tradition of ritual offering bowls used to present water, flowers, incense, light or food.
A naturally developed patina covers the bronze and subtle wear around the rim and body records handling and ceremonial use. The naga adds the protective serpent symbolism associated with Southeast Asian Buddhist art. The 19th-century dating is presented as an estimated attribution.
