Catalogue Note
An elegant 20th-century Thai bronze Buddha bust inspired by the classical Sukhothai style. The elongated flame-shaped finial, softly modelled face and calm expression create a refined silhouette, while a green-brown patina gives the bronze a naturally varied surface.
Sukhothai-inspired form
The long oval face, subtle smile and high flame finial draw on one of Thailand’s most recognisable traditions of Buddha sculpture. This piece is not presented as an original Sukhothai-period work; it is a later interpretation made in the 20th century.
Bronze and patina
The bust is cast in bronze and has an open underside. Surface examination shows green and brown patination, oxidation and normal age-related variation rather than an artificially uniform finish.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light surface wear, oxidation and colour variation consistent with age.
