This kneeling Thai Theppanom figure is shown with the hands joined in anjali mudra, a gesture of reverence and devotion. The high chada headdress and richly patterned costume connect the figure to the guardian and celestial imagery seen in Thai Buddhist temple art.
The bronze has developed a dark natural patina with lighter oxidation in protected details. The headdress remains intact.
Condition
Good vintage condition with natural patina and minor age-related wear.

Anjali Mudra joins the hands before the chest as a gesture of reverence, greeting and spiritual humility. In a kneeling figure, the gesture creates an especially focused image of devotion.
