Weight: 1.6 kg
Material: Bronze / brass-rich copper alloy
Period: 1970s
Style: Himalayan Buddhist
Mudra: Bhumisparsha Mudra
A substantial vintage Shakyamuni Buddha seated in bhumisparsha mudra. The robe is enriched with hand-engraved decoration applied after casting, giving the sculpture a more individual finish than a standard workshop reproduction.
The warm copper-alloy surface has developed natural patina and wear consistent with several decades of age. It is transparently catalogued as a 1970s Buddhist sculpture rather than as an antique.
Condition
Good vintage condition with patina, minor wear and visible hand-finishing.
Iconography and Context
Bhumisparsha Mudra is the earth-touching gesture associated with Shakyamuni calling the earth to witness his awakening. The lowered right hand turns the stable seated image into a direct reference to the moment of Enlightenment.
Condition and Display
The bronze / brass-rich copper alloy surface shows the tonal variation, patina and raised-detail wear described in the catalogue note. The 10 photographs document the sculpture from multiple angles, including the reverse and base.
