A heavy Thai seated Buddha in bhumisparsha mudra, made in an Ayutthaya-inspired crowned style. The substantial cast and retained mineral core give the sculpture considerable physical presence despite its moderate height.

Good vintage condition with dark patina and normal casting marks.

Bhumisparsha Mudra is the earth-touching gesture associated with Shakyamuni calling the earth to witness his awakening. The lowered right hand turns the stable seated image into a direct reference to the moment of Enlightenment.
