Catalogue Note
A vintage Thai Buddha head cast in a yellow-toned bronze or brass-rich copper alloy and modelled in a Sukhothai-inspired style. Dating to approximately 1960–1980, the 27.5 cm sculpture has an elongated oval face, long earlobes and a calm meditative expression.
Sukhothai-inspired design
The refined facial proportions and raised ushnisha look back to classical Thai Buddhist sculpture, but the object is correctly catalogued as a later 20th-century interpretation rather than as antique Sukhothai work.
Casting and surface
The head was made by hollow casting and shows a warm gold-brown patina with lighter handling wear, mineral deposits and surface variation around protected areas. These details support a naturally aged vintage surface without implying an earlier date.
Condition
Good vintage condition with age-related wear, deposits, oxidation and minor casting irregularities.
